The film, set in the backdrop of a tribal village, never takes itself too seriously. It is a brilliant black comedy in most parts and ensures an enjoyable experience as promised by its makers.
Yeman (Vijay Sethupathi) is the leader of a tribal village. Along with his aides Purushothaman (Ramesh Tilak) and Narasimhan (Rajkumar), he comes to the city.
His aim is to kidnap Sowmya (Niharika Konidala), his niece, who is studying in a city college. For, he had vowed many years back to marry her.
As he and his accomplices kidnap here, Harish (Gautham Karthik), a happy-go-lucky youth and collegemate of Sowmya, follows them to rescue her, as he has a soft corner for her.
The rest is all about whether Yeman is able to achieve his ‘mission’, what is the reason behind the vow and whether Harish is able to ‘save’ his friend.
Vijay Sethupathi is the driving force of the movie, as he unleashes his antics with various getups. Niharika is commendable and her lip sync is near perfect. Others in the cast, including Gautham Karthik Gayathri and Ramesh Tilak are right choice for their respective roles.
Justin Prabhakaran’s music adds more to the mood of the movie while Sree Saravanan’s cinematography is another strength to this Vijay Sethupathi-Arumugakumar venture.
On the flip side, the script deviates and gets diluted somewhere in the middle. Had the director fixed it, the ‘ONNPS’ would have been a great comedy flick.
